Question Frt Crank Seal Help please!!!

Hi, I am new to this forum, my son has a 07 pt cruiser 2.4L non turbo and we discovered an oil leak, had my local wrench turner look at it and he replaced every seal timing belt etc, 3 days later it still leaks.. He replaced the frt. crank seal, said it was "pushed out" .. a day later, same issue, I read on the internet that this is a common problem but can't seem to find a cure, no warranty left of car, engine only has 48k... someone said either a used motor or new short block, but I don't have the cash for that? opinions??? comments???
thanks, John

i take it when the timing belt was done he didn't replace the cam seals. he should have, they're right there when it's all opened up.

It's called 'crank walk', I only know of this because it's reported here often.

THe fix is to disassemble engine, and have components repaired, or get a different short block.

They changed something (Again, I've only heard this, not seen it) report was they only used 1/2 thrust bearing instead of both halves.

Sorry.

Yep, it seems to be an '05 and up issue. We just replaced the 2.4 in a Stratus for the same problem. Something with the thrust bearings, not sure as we haven't done an autopsy on the old engine yet.

You might be able to replace the thrust bearing while it's still in the car. Wouldn't be easy, but might be easier than removing the engine.

You'd have to drop bedplate- I think transmission would have to be 'backed off' at least to drop bedplate.
