Everytime the AC compressor kicks on the idle drops on my cruiser.. Is the ac compressor going out and how can i test it to see if i need a new compressor?

Thanks,

The idle control valve might be sticking or your cooling fan is not working and causing compressor to work harder.

The computer is supposed to compensate for the extra draw of the compressor and raise the idle. As busted just said, it might be the IAC valve that isn't working.

My wifes PT just started doing this but now there is no AC at all. I went out and looked at it and I turned the air on high. I hit the gas a little got a grinding kinda sound so I stopped. I did notice a little haze in the garage and looked under the engine and there was an oily substance under the compressor. Did my compressor just die?

Sounds like your compressor overheated and blew the R134a out the relief valve. With the R134a comes the oil that's in the system to lubricate everything. Take it to a place that deals in A/C. Did the fan come on when the A/C was running?

I just went back out to and turned the AC on and the cooling fan wasn't running as the car was idling.

As was said a thousand times on this forum, the fan should be running anytime the A/C is turned on. The problem cold be a relay, the computer or most likely, one or both speeds of the fan motor are burnt out. That makes the compressor overheat and when it does that, the pressure relief valve spits out R134a out the bottom of the compressor.

Ok do you have a wiring diagram for the fan? I want to put a couple jumper wires in the cannon plug andf see if the fan runs or its the relays.

Thanks for the diagram. I checked continuity for the relays up by the fan and I had resistance so I went and hooked up a wire from the battery to the cannon plug of the fan and I got nothing. I took the car out and drove and the AC works good as long as the car is moving. Good call on the fan motor being shot. Thanks for all the help Crewzin!
