Default Mystery Floorboard Fluid

Yesterday while driving, I noticed a somewhat familiar smell. It smelled similar to engine coolant, and I thought I was smelling it through the vents, but I was wrong. Turns out, my driver's side floorboard is now slightly soaked.

I had an old clunker awhile back that leaked coolant, and I would always smell this smell when I'd put water in it.

Any ideas or leads as to what's broke under my dash?

Sounds like a leaking heater core. Not easy to fix as the whole dash has to come apart.

Nooooooooooo!!

I had a feeling it wasn't going to be something simple. Thanks for the replies.

Will it hurt anything (other than my floorboard) if I don't fix it for a couple of weeks? My schedule is quite busy

Not as long as you keep up the coolant level.

That hoat done ate a hole in it!

Just to add: The heater core is suspect but there's a slight possibility that the pipes/hose going into the core has sprung a leak and it's not the core's fault. The bad news, the dash still has to come apart to find out.

Well, I'm not looking forward to it either way. Optimistically, I enjoy learning new stuff about my PT by having to break it down piece by piece. I just wish it were under different circumstances.

Thanks for the help.
