Default code 0340

My 2007 pt cruiser check engine light came on and seconds later my car stalled then would not start. The codes that came up were p0340 and p0016. Both are for cam shaft position sensor. We replaced it and car will not turn over. Almost sounds like its missfiring. No codes come up and we have tried resetting the computer in a few different ways. Why wont it start now? My only transportation!! Please help!

Code P0016 is for Crankshaft/Camshaft timing misalignment.
1. When replacing the Camshaft Position sensor, did you make sure when installing the target magnet that the locating dowels on the back of the magnet where aligned with the locating holes? Also the CMP sensor retaining bolts need to be torqued at 115 in-lbs. The CMP sensor target magnet retaining screw needs to be at 32 in-lbs

2. Did you replace the Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor too? The torque speck for that is 80 in-lbs.

just to add something: what is your mileage? If a code for both the Cam and Crank sensors came up, it might mean your timing belt has gone south.
