Default "Shuddering"

Went camping last week, and had 1/4 tank of gas. Car was fine when driving, but left it idling when I went in to pay for the camp site. The kids told me the car was "acting funny".

And it was idling fine, then every minute or so it would "shudder". Felt like it was in the rear passenger side. Perhaps it was the gas being low - although 1/4 tank should not have any issues. It was fine the next day, and has not done that since.

Any ideas? Am having the dealer look at it when I take it for an oil change.

Baby, was your A/C turned on when this "shuddering" occurred? If so, I would suspect that your radiator fan is not working up to snuff, or one of the speeds is out. You would only feel these effects at idle.

also check the tension of your AC/power steering belt. I lost mine a month or two ago and after replacing it i felt a distinct shutter at idle as well, turns out my tensioner was junk, $45 and an hour later. no shutter :-D

also check your EGR valves, elbows hoses ect. a vaccume leak can cause the car to run richey rich, causing the RPM's to drop a hundred or so, also giving a shutter feeling :-)

Yes it was! Thank you

Was scary to be honest. You have to realize I know nothing about cars (I'm a nurse not a mechanic!) And would it be sexist to say isn't that a mans job?
