Default oil leak around head?

while driving my pt cruiser it alwas leaves oil on the ground no matter where i park? last night i think i figured it out. upon inspecting every thing i noticed oil seepimg out from around my head gaskest. which is odd because its a brand new head gasket; new head bolts; shaved head with a clean block. (bolts torqued to book specs) has any one else encountered this delima before??

sounds like either the head gasket is bad, or you have a small deformity in the head itself. if everything is torqued correctly it shouldnt leak unless something is giving.

This is highly unlikly without antifreeze lose. But anything could happen. Were exactly is the oil seem to come from.(front, back, left, or right) side of the engine?

No shim on head installation right?

Did you mean it leaks around the valve pan gasket?

every thing was torqued in order and to the correct specs. ( cant remember exactly what that is but i followed the service manual i have) yes the head was shaved and assembled with 1 gasket. and new head botls. no metal shims were used.

looking up at things from the bottom.(while its on my lift) the head is clean as a whistle all the wat around it, then every thing below the head is all covered in oil and road grime.

Composite head gaskets ('93-'97?) used to leak at driver's rear- Right above oil sending unit.

Of course, oil sending unit leaks-

And cam sensor-

Rear main will likely just seep if at all-

The torque spec adds 1/4 turn- Sometimes people forget this last part, or forget one in the sequence (It's best to use paint and daub a little on each bolt head during sequence)

You could pull valve cover and check each bolt- Somewhere on neons.org someone has done a
reading of actual torque reached at end of the 1/4 sequence- Don't know/remember what it was.

There's only two headbolts you can't easily get to with cams in, if you use 3/8 extension with wobble you can do a 'good enough' check.

thank you "uptown" and every one else! i will see what i can do to check these this weekend, as i cant afford to keep driving the rusty but trusty blazer. keep any and all ideas coming. BTW what is in the front of the engine that could potentially leak oil? most of my drips are towards the front center of the engine (if that makes since)

check the valve cover gasket.

Seeing as the Cruiser has a NEON engine haha neons are very well known for haivng VCG leak issues, i had a massive leak, turns out it was a $30 gasket, took me 45 min to swap and in the past i've had to replace the VCG 3 or 4 times in a row before i got one that sealed correctly.
