Default pt stalling out..except when in neutral?

Hello everyone. Even though I have been an avid visitor on this forum for some time, ive decided that moms pt just won't leave me alone so its probably time to male an account. So the story goes her car decided it wasn't going to start one day. So off to the forums we go to figure what's going on as we can't afford shop rate. After doing some research I replaced both the cam and crankshaft sensors as well as the camshaft magnet with oem parts. All sensors were torqued to specs. While I had the car taken apart I went ahead and changed the fan as well since it sputtered when the ac kicked on. Now all os well except for the fact that the car still shuts off every once and a while. However she says if she throws the car into neutral the recap come back to normal and the car will be fine. She has said that it happens once or twice a day. Does anyone have any other suggestions I'm starting to give up I've read on a post here that a special diagnostic tool is need to sync the camshaft and crankshaft sensors. Is this true? The only other thing I can think of is that it sounds like a belt is loose but I'm not sure if that could cause it to consistently cut off. Thanks in advance for your time.

Wouldn't that effect the car at all speeds and all gears since its always being used to monitor the throttle position.

There's a crank cam 'relearn' procedure; only time you need that is:
a. When cam timing was messed up from factory-New (rare-impossible)
b. Someone installed belt incorrectly, THEN new PCM was installed or relearn performed.

All relearn does is prevent check engine light from going on, has no performance implications

(Previous from OLD Neon PCM, ASSume its same for PT)

If it's dying in all ranges except neutral, idle motor may be not working (including passages plugged).
I know folks have run into this before-
You could pull a vacuum line and see if idle motor 'recovers' idle speed.

TPS, in experience with megasquirt, really doesn't do much;
enables fuel shut off ('flood Clear') during cranking if you floor it
May sense rapid throttle movement for acceleration enrichment, but MAP sensor is really much better for this
Allows fuel shut off on decel

Overall, pull out owner's manual and do a line by line check on maintenance items- i.e., PCV valve, spark plug wires, plugs, etc
Not that someone who posts lots and lots hasn't done this , but
that someone has spent hours diagnosing a bad PCV valve ...

I agree that it could be the idle speed control motor being gummed up or plugged. The extra load of the transmission is just enough to drag down the engine speed to a stalling range.
Time to try some throttle body spray cleaner.
