Default PCM Not Seeing Cam Sensor

Good evening! I'm new to the board and would liketo say a heartfelt hello! I have visited several times and have got some great info.

I have a bit of a situation, I have a 2001 Cruiserand the ECM will not see the cam sensor. I was heading back to Grand Junction from Denver on I-70. Cruise set at 76 mph and the car suddenly stopped running. I had a friend of mine load me up on the trailer and tow me home. I have a Snap-On Solis scaner and pluged in. P0603, cam sensor. That was the only code. I called Grand Junction Chrysler and got a new sensor, target magnet for the cam. Istalled the parts, and still no start. Once I installed the parts, reconnected the battery, the check engine light was out and still no start. I reconnected the scanner and no codes found. There is a feature on the scanner that allows you to check the cam and crank sensor while cranking the motor. It see's the crank sensor, does not see the cam sensor while cranking. Also the tone of the motor has changed while cranking. I have followed the wiring nothing looks out of place, grounded, cut or other wise altered.

Any ideas? I would not think that any programing would be needed for the PCM to see the cam sensor or am I wrong?

I have not inspected the timing belt, but maybe the cam isn't turning?

Thank you all in advance!

Mike

You know how to change the Camshaft sensor already so, take it off again and crank the engine. You need two people here: watch the end of the camshaft that you can now that the sensor is off. If the camshaft isn't turning while someone is cranking the engine, the timing belt is gone.

Absolutely, short of a wire issue on the sensor harness!
