Default 06 PT temp gauge issues

So, my lovely little PT is playing tricks on me, I think. I bought it new, and the temp gauge always went to 1/2 and stayed there. Lately it started to creep up. Now sometimes it will spike to 3/4, but come back down literally within 5 to 10 seconds. Also, if I stop and put it in neutral and gun the motor a bit, it comes down fast as well. Any ideas? Thanks! Love my PT!

They don't play tricks! You deffently have some issue. More information will be needed, such mileage, AC and any work performed lately? My first guess would be thermastate.

In my experience, when the temp changes like that it's because the coolant level is low. If that is the case then you need to trace the source of your leak.
