Default Rev Problem *Help please*

Today when i went to start up my pt cruiser [Hasn't been run in a while] i revved it a couple times while i was in park. Is it bad to do that? The highest rev i got to was about 3500-4000 and it lurched a little bit. after that the revs dropped to about 700 then the engine brought it back up, is this normal?
BTW i have a 2001 limited editon pt. if that helps.

that's normal. the idle air control closes to help the rpm's come down. once the rpm's are too low the IAC lets more air in and it comes back up (:

Due to magnificent Chrysler shifters, several of us have selected incorrect gears while racing- I'd guess mine hit 10,000 RPM- Only clutch broke.
Other's have had valves float & bend (2.0) (Clutch, too of course).

My brother regularly revs his 2.0 to 8500 just to PO me

You simply hit the factory "park/neutral' rev limiter. Every PT has it. It will do this every time you rev it to those levels while in park/neutral to keep us from free-wheeling our engines to death.
