Default PO340 Error Code -Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor Circuit

Need your help fast. Bought a 2008 PT Cruiser Convertible from a Toyota dealership that was delivered to me today. I did test drive it on Saturday, and it drove fine. It also drove fine for the salesman who delivered it the 45 miles to my home today (I had to drive my other car home--we didn't do a trade-in). We drove it around town for maybe 8 miles max after delivery, and it drove fine. Tonight, I took my girls to softball practice about 2 miles from home. It drove fine to the field, but when I dropped my oldest off and started out of the parking lot, the MIL light came on and the car started driving "jerky.". I managed to get it back home and called my salesman (after hours) and he promised me that he'd get the dealership informed first thing in the morning, to figure out how to proceed. The car did come with a 90 day warranty.

I did the "trick" to get error codes, and it showed PO340 - Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit. Can somebody tell me just how serious this is? I am certain that the car will have to be towed back to the dealership, as it barely made it back home tonight.

Linda

An oem cam sensor, remove two bolts and a connector is all she needs.

Thanks! Looked at a couple "how to" descriptions and videos out there, and this does seem relatively minor. At least now I am armed with some info about what is wrong when the dealership opens this morning

Be sure they put in a genuine Chrysler sensor - most of the aftermarket sensors don't last at all, and aren't much cheaper.
