Cool another fan question

been reading for months, pt overheating but not into the red, changed water pump, sensors, fuses, belts and thermostat, still overheats about 3/4 on the gauge. I'm not hearing the fan click on, so I'm guessing this may be the problem. But have you ever heard of this, son took out thermostat to see if that would help and the ?@#$ car blows hot air from the heater? Anyway he tried to straight wire the fan to the battery and fan runs. My question is how do you bypass all the bs and wire the fan directly to the battery and not burn anything up? I've spent more $$ than she's worth trying to fix. ('01 pt le)

First off, you should fix it right, and your son shouldn't work on it if he doesn't know what he's doing.

You cannot run the engine without the thermostat. It's in there for a very important reason.

You also need to see if power is getting ot your fan when it should be turning on. If not, look to your relays.

Next, check the radiator itself for blockages or clogged fins.

If you hotwire the fan to constantly run you will burn out your fan. Fix it right the first time.

Most likely your fan has one speed burnt out. If you hot wire it, the other speed will burn out very soon. It's better just to replace the fan or motor and not worry about hot wiring it. Rockauto has a good fan for relatively cheap.

Thanks for all ya'lls help. Didn't drive the car w/out thermostat, just thought it unusal that w/out one it would blow hot air. I already have new fan to install. Just wanted your feedback.
