Default Radiator fan not working

My fan doesn't come at all. I ran a jumper to high & low sides of connector' and they both work. replaced both relays, and the sensor under/ at the rad cap. Nope, doenst work.Tryed the code readout and got p 1684 , 0601 , 1490 any suggestions, help? Looked in the library- 0601 said control module fault, does this mean it needs replced? When I said both sides were working, I meant the fan high and low turn on and run w/ jumper from battery. The fan works, but somehow isn't getting orders to work from the system, or somthin like that

Attach a volt meter to the pins of the wiring connector that attaches to the fan connector. Check to see if it's registering a voltage when you turn the A/C on. It would be on one of the outside pins, and the middle pin is ground. Not sure which of the outside pins would show the voltage, but check both. Also, when your vehicle gets up to temp, the other pin should show voltage.

If they do, then your fan is probably broken (although you said it comes on with hard-wiring, so that would be weird). If you're not getting any voltage, then the problem lies somewhere else. BUt I'd start there just to make sure, before you start replacing anything.

My daughters 2006 did the same thing. We had a fan failure but when we pulled the fan and ran direct voltage to it it worked just fine but would spin at the same speed no matter which pin you hooked too. We even hooked it back up to the car and it worked okay. We figure maybe we knocked the brush loose when we removed it. We replaced the fan anyway and no more issues. I took The old fan apart and one of the brushes was completely wore down.

Have you managed to get a fix for this yet? Mine does the same thing, works fine when you hard wire the fan, and can see the relays switching when they reach temp but for some strange reason the fan isn't starting..

Would be interesting to see if you managed to find the problem so I can try it on mine too..

Cheers,

John.

I am also fighting a similar issue with a 03 pt. Had fan replaced and worked fine for about two weeks. Now it's out again. Taking it back because I am not sure if the fan motor quit again which is under a 30 day warranty or will they tell me something else is wrong.

Mart, was if a Chrysler fan? or aftermarket?

I'm thinking you got a generic E-bay (some of which work okay--and some not so much).

I was from a long time auto repair place that is reputable and has been in business for 30 years that I know off. The fan assembly was like 300 dollars approx.
