01 PT Idling too low

My PT started off by idling very rough when I had the A/C on. After some searching and reading some threads on the forum, I decided to clean the IAC valve. After cleaning it, getting the exhaust manifold and everything back together, it idles much better but it now idles kind of low at just under 500 RPMs. Could it be that the IAC valve needs to be replaced?

Does this only happen when your AC is on? If so, your radiator fan could be broken. Check to see that it comes on when you turn the AC on. If it doesn't, then the brushes on the motor wore out and it needs to be replaced.

As far as the IAC, I'll let someone else comment on that, I've never had a problem with that on my PT, so I don't know.

Besides the IAC attached to the throttle body there's also the throttle position sensor (which can't be cleaned, and also built up carbon inside the throttle body. Can't speak on the IAC as I've n3ever had it apart but the spring could be shot that makes it work.

Exhaust manifold?! You removed it to access the IAC? That's odd.

Anyway...how far have you driven the car since the cleaning. The PCM may need to relearn the idle. My opinion is that if it persists after the next 50 miles of driving, replace it.

If you didn't adjust the pintle when cleaning the IAC, then re-remove it and adjust following the instructions in the pic below. After reassembling, it will "wander" for a few minutes after first starting it up. During that process it and the PCM are getting reacquainted and will find their own sweet spot in a very short time. Your idle should be around 750 at ALL times.
