It’s the transaxle transfer gear cover.
My earlier thread asking to identify a leak reveals its likely this.... anyone know how big a job this is ? with and without actually replacing the cover ?
It's likely rotting too.

 '03 GT Blue/ autostick.. 160,000KM ( That's 100,000miles for y'all South of the border ) All the options, the heated leather is a must up here in Canada, Love the solid heavy duty feel and obvious Torque.. The Turbo is strong, fast and reliable.. People that don't understand the love of a PT, probably don't deserve to.

Are you 100% positive that's where the leak is? Area looked pretty dirty. Did you clean it off?

Yeah, that was my thought. Hard to believe that seal failed unless something hit the edge of it.

Yeah, it's weird... I put down some paper and it now seems to be ATF, it's not obviously red, soaked through the paper.. I guess this genius will use white bristol board to make it really obvious.. LOL.. My friend at Chrysler tells me that's what he thinks it is.. I'm bringing it in on Monday so I'll know for sure.. Thanks for your thoughts.

Exactly what it was, I believe up here in the heavy duty winters with serious amounts of road salt they rot.... 8 bolts and $60 and it's good as new.
