Default Itís the transaxle transfer gear cover.

My earlier thread asking to identify a leak reveals its likely this.... anyone know how big a job this is ? with and without actually replacing the cover ?
It's likely rotting too.

The Turbo is strong, fast and reliable.. People that don't understand the love of a PT, probably don't deserve to.

Are you 100% positive that's where the leak is? Area looked pretty dirty. Did you clean it off?

These don't usually leak if never been off. They are siliconed from the factory and can be an pain to get them loose after the bolts are out. Would look at other areas forward of this. Wind will blow fluids towards the back of the car.

Yeah, that was my thought. Hard to believe that seal failed unless something hit the edge of it.

Even then it would have hit it in the right way.

Yeah, it's weird... I put down some paper and it now seems to be ATF, it's not obviously red, soaked through the paper.. I guess this genius will use white bristol board to make it really obvious.. LOL.. My friend at Chrysler tells me that's what he thinks it is.. I'm bringing it in on Monday so I'll know for sure.. Thanks for your thoughts.

Exactly what it was, I believe up here in the heavy duty winters with serious amounts of road salt they rot.... 8 bolts and $60 and it's good as new.
