Default pt stuck when trying to reverse

03 Ltd Ed Pt 85k miles - sticks when we start it and immediately go to reverse - it just doesn't budge. I put it in drive, inch forward a bit, then back into reverse, and it's fine.

What would cause this? Costly to resolve?

thanks!
Matt

Default Re: pt stuck when trying to reverse

I haven't worked on auto's for a couple decades, then prolly wasn't that good-
but reverse took alot more pressure than forward ranges to apply-
From what I understand from current manual that's still true.

There is a very in-depth troubleshooting sequence in factory manual (aka the 'FSM'). It may be as simple as a stuck valve, or band adjustment.

Of course, you should always ensure owner's manual maintenance procedures are followed first.
