Default Cruiser still not working?

My daughter has had problems with her 04 Cruiser for the last two months. It will quit randomly and will not startup until it's sat for a while. The only codes are P0032 and P0038, both are O2 sensor codes, but they shouldn't cause it to stall. The only thing that the mechanic could find was a fluctuation in the fuel pump pressure. So, that's the last item that has not been changed. Is it better to buy the complete fuel pump assembly or just the pump and filter and then rebuild the assembly. The reason I'm asking is the regulator doesn't come with the rebuild kit.

Any help is appreciated.

Bob

I would go for the regulator. That said, think your fishing in a dry hole. Hopefully I'm wrong.

The only reason I wondering if it's the pump is the mechanic said the pressure was fluctating, but was within specs.

We've either eliminated or replaced the cam and crank sensors, replaced plugs and wires, replaced coil. After the car has sat for a couple of days you can drive it 10 - 20 miles and it will not do anything. Shut it off and let it set and it will stall usually within 10 minutes.

Kind of at a lose of where to turn on this one without any other codes besides the O2 sensors.

Have you changed the o2 sensors. Since that seems to be the only other reoccurring factor in this. Although it shouldn't cause this, by my thinking.

Did the mechanic use genuine Chrysler sensors or did he order them from a parts
store?

Crewin,

The parts came from NAPA. I replaced the cam sensor that I got at Oriellys about six months ago, just it case it was bad. I recheck both the cam and crank sensor to see if they were putting out signals and they are still working. If I were to replace either the cam or crank sensor with a Mopar one which would you recommend? I hate to take it to the dealer, but I think it's coming to that. I've heard people having trouble with the magnet, is cracking the only thing that would cause a problem with them?

Any chance you have a bad EGR valve?

The fuel pressure regulator should be internal to the pump. You cannot replace one without the other.

If it were my car I would replace the O2 sensor and the entire fuel pump assembly with a new one.

I don't believe my car has an EGR valve, I've not been able to locate it. The repair manual states not all cars have one.

I replaced the O2 sensor on the exhaust manifold, but not the one on the converter.

Are the Airtex pumps that Rock Auto and Oriellys sell any good?

I'm going to stop at the local Chrysler garage and talk to the service manager, he's helped me out on my truck in the past.

From what I understand, Airtex supplies OEM.
