Default Sticky Stick!!

Hi, I have a 2008 PT with a manual transmission. Every once in a while the trans is hard to shift. It feels like the linkage is sticking, and I notice it more when it is hot outside. Yesterday here in Phoenix it was over 116 Deg. and the tranny was hard to get into 1st and shifting to 2nd. This morining it was much easier to shift, but of course it was in the 80's. I was told by the dealer that there was not way to check the oil level, because that was my first thought. But I am leaning more towards a linkage issue. Any ideas from you folks out there?
