Default tranny swap suggestions?

Hey guys,
I'm new to the forum and just starting to get some mods on my 2006 pt turbo gt...One mod I am desperate for is possibly converting to a manual transmission but I am striking out in finding anything for a 2006. would any of you have any recommendations on compatible swaps i can look into for this? any help would be greatly appreciated!

My honest suggestion would be to buy a manual PT GT.

Look for an 03 with minimal options; less options means less weight so better platform to begin with.

The auto is a 41TE, the manual is a 5-speed Getrag in case you were interested.

I would be looking for a cheap base model with manual transmission as a project platform, if I were crazy enough

Non-turbo had T-350HD, a strengthened Neon/stratus transmission.
Turbo Neon had the t-850
As Kawi said, PT Turbo has a getrag.

All will bolt to the 2.0/2.4.
Obviously, non-turbo axles will work with T-350.

You can use old Neon/Stratus T-350 in the PT by swapping the bellhousings, or just grab one out of a '01 up Neon.

Turbos had a jackshaft so axle halves would be equal length.
I *THINK* guys did this on t-350's, but you'd have to research.

The old T-350 has held up to TREMENDOUS power (with slicks!) in the PL body-
however things change drastically when you add chassis weight.

I was in the same boat. Wanting to change over to a manual so i could continue the HP quest. Not having a lot of luck finding all the parts required to do it correctly at reasonable cost (wasnt going to splice/cut wires, wanted key switch to work correctly, no errors in PCM,etc...)

I lucked up and was in the right place at the right time and picked up the 03' GT 5-speed for about the cost just for parts to convert mine.

It may take a while but wait till you can find a manual turbo. Its a headache and a chunk of money to convert one correctly.

Here's a reference to equal length axles retro for the Neon-
It's speaks about bosses on block, something which a late Model PT would already have.

Equal-Length Upgrade - Which blocks does it fit?

Interesting, this is why they moved the crank sensor from early PT's to later PT's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
