Default Can't unplug cooling fan

Ok so I removed the red clip for the cooling fan plug. While trying to lift up the U shaped clip it broke off. I tried inserting anything I could find to shimmy it up, but it was a no go. Can anyone help me ?

I remember just being able to pull the harness apart; it's dummy-proof really.

The male harness end (with 3 prongs sticking out) is the harness/wire coming from the fan itself.

Tried pulling them apart and they were pretty stuck. Tried lifting it with a flat head screwdriver, pretty stuck. Im not a pro on working on cars so I figured I'd try on the cooling fan. I wish I could clip wires, but I'd need a you tube video on how to reconnect them. I may have to resort to a professional since the easy part isn't so easy.

You said you "removed" the red clip and what's supposed to happen is you slide the red tab from one side to the other which unlocks the connection. Maybe it isn't unlocked so that's why it's not coming apart.

If you broke the "U" clip, there should be nothing holding the two parts together except the locking tab.

That little piece you marked there is the part that I was trying to lift up and it snapped, which is the " u clip" right? Where is the locking tab? Yes the red clip slid to the right and came out. I hope I didn't make matter worse by breaking that tab, it was pretty brittle. Thank you for your help.

Yes, the red tab is the lock I don't it supposed come all the way out when you slide it across but maybe it doesn't matter. The "U" clip had to be lifted so the two halves of the connection can slide apart. If it's broke off, there should be nothing stopping the connection from coming apart unless heat got to it and it somehow fused the two halves together. Grab hold of both halves and wiggle and pull apart at the same time, if you can.

The top half fits over the bottom so you might try slipping a very small screwdriver blade between the halves.

Ok well I'll try again, tonight. I'm just afraid I may break something else on that thing. The u clip broke in half I should say. There is still a plastic piece there between the two connections. Tried pulling up the rest with a screwdriver last night but it wouldn't budge. Az heat makes it impossible to work during the day.

Yea, if you still have the part of the "U" clip that holds onto the little notch(s) of the top part, it will hold the two parts together. You need a small screwdriver to lift up on what's left of the "U" clip.

If I get the rest of the u clip up is this going to cause a problem when plugging in the new one since part of the u clip broke?
