Default Cam Sensor trouble???

Hi Guys,
This is my first time on the forum. I have been having trouble with my PT for a while now. There has been a lot of information I took advise from reading through the archives here. I kept getting a miss in the engine it seemed to be more often when it was hot out and it was very pronounced when the air conditioner was on. It made the A/C seem as it it was not working properly. Occasionally the car would go into safe mode and limp along until I shut it down and restarted it. I kept getting the code for the cam sensor.
I changed the cam sensor several times, as well as the cam sensor connector. Then I also changed the crank sensor as I read that could effect the cam code???. I Don't know if that is true but It was inexpensive so I tried it. (although it was not as easy to access as I hoped). Any way it all seemed to be in vain as the problem remained. Thinking back to around when the problem began, it was a few months after I changed the spark plug wires and went to E3 spark plugs. So I pulled of the intake and pulled the plug wires only to find some arcing tracks on the inside of the #3 boot. there was also some evidence of arcing on the bottom of the #1 spark plug porcelain. I put on a new set of wires and went back to the original standard plugs and so far so good. Apparently the arcing was causing the miss and the first thing to pick up that there was a problem was the cam sensor. So if you have a problem that keep pointing you to the cam sensor. Take a good look at your Spark Plugs and Wires
Be Blessed, and Enjoy the Road

No offense but that is why you should always run the stock champion plugs and change them every 25K or so.

All these aftermarket crap coils, plugs and what not cause more issues.

I agree. I just use the standard Champiom plugs RE14MCC5 that came with the car when I bought it new. I changed the plug wires to Bosch, which work fine, too. I even left the gap at the old standard (they were pre-set at about .050). Since I live in a warm climate, leaving the gap, stock, caused me no problems.

I am going to be keeping it stock from now on and not going for the latest greatest thing to beat all things they are selling on TV
It seem like once you start changing things one thing leads to another
