Default 90,000 mile maintenance???

I have a 2003 PT Cruiser, std. 2.4L engine and automatic transmission, that just turned 90,000 miles and plan to have the timing belt replaced and a tune up next week. Is there anything I should have looked at while it is in the shop?

I remember when I had a tune up years ago someone here suggested a certain plug brand, and wire brand. I guess the mechanic can tell the brand of plugs and wires when he gets under the hood but I remember that the gap suggested was just a little different than Chrysler recommended.

Thanks for the advice, Bill

Any decent brand of plugs and wires will work. Chrysler did come out around 2004 and suggested the non-turbo cars should be gapped at .040 in. instead of the .050 in. that was originally posted.

Along with the timing belt, the water pump and belt tensioner should be changed as the both wear out and it takes the same amount of time to change (5 to 7 hours) as the timing belt itself so might as well get them done.

Also won't hurt to change the serpentine and alternator belt while everything else is being looked over.
