Default Ox sensor codes keep comming bck

Got a CEL for P0031 and P0037
Got both 02 sensors replaced.
Codes came back within 30 min
Wiring looks ok, and the ground connections are good
Mechanic tells me that it might be a faulty ECU.

Any other ideas ??

P.S. Rough idles only some times. Rest of the time it drives fine.

Have you checked the catalytic converter. Could be the problem.

No I have not. How do I check for a plugged cat converter. Or do I need to go to a shop for that.

Thanks for the input

You can remove the converter and shake it, if it rattles it should be replaced, you can also shine a light through it, you should be able to see the light on the other side, if you can't it should be replaced. one thing to keep in mind is a catalytic converter does'nt just plug up or die for no good reason. If it's bad there is uaually an underlying problem that must be addressed. Underlying problems may include an engine managment system that is not going into closed loop, check the coolant and oxygen sensors, or thermostat stick in open position, plugged pcv valve, or excessive fuel pressure (bad fuel regulator) ignition timing, fouled plugs. You can also check the temp of the converter with an infrared temp gauge. Drive the car a while to get it warm, then check the temp at the front of the converter, then check temp at rear of converter, if the temp at rear of converter is 200 degrees higher than front converter is having to work too hard to do its, job and should be replaced. Then you need to find what's causing it to go bad.

Otherwise, if you are sure the O2 sensors are OK, just live with it.
I had a similar problem with the 2006 soonercruiser.
I just learned to live with it.

Im planning to take it on a cross country trip so i just want to make sure that everything is ok on it.
It rough idles only once in a while, restarting it seems to resolve it for a while.
Still getting the same fuel mileage as before.

I use my vacuum/pressure gauge to check a cat. Take out the O2 sensor on the exhaust manifold. Use a cork with a hole in the center with a fitting in it for the hose on the vacuum/pressure gauge. The cork must fit snuggly into the O2 sensor hole. Start the car if it reads more than about 2 pounds at idle it's plugged or the exhaust is plugged. You may also have to test at the O2 sensor after the cat to see if the exhaust system is plugged after the cat. You can also do this with an IR thermometer, but don't know the exact procedure. You can probably just Google it.
