Need some help from the dual exhaust people. I am currently waiting for my hahn turbo kit to arrive and in the meantime I ordered a 2.5" Mopar (borla) dual exhaust cat-back system. Well I received the exhaust first and they sent me a 2.25" dual instaed of the 2.5. Now here's my question. Is the extra 1/4 inch going to make that big a difference on the turbos output or should I go ahead and ship the 2.25" exhaust back and get the 2.5"? I've also heard that the 2.5" will be noisier than the 2.25. I would prefer the quieter exhaust, but want the HP gain. Please respond with your opinions.
2002 Dreamcruiser - Just startin out, can't quit buyin stuff for this thing. Don't want to buy anything for the exterior until I can afford to get rid of the baby-sh*t yellow color. |

I have a Hahn and had a Borla 2.25" duel exhaust . I replaced it with a 3.00" and could see an immediate improvement . The turbo spools up faster and at higher rpm the boost doesn't fall back like it did with the Borla . Even with the stage 1 hahn the 2.25" Borla is a restriction and it does effect performance , especially above 4000 rpm .
As for the sound of the 2.50" being louder , the turbo tends to make the exhaust quieter , at least at cruising speed . I would go with the 2.50" for sure . I'm not sure , but I don't think there would be much of a difference in sound between the two . The 2.50" may have a deeper sound . Check out my album . There are some pictures of the Borla 2.25" system I took off , with some pictures of a VERY interesting restriction where the pipe enters the muffler . Actually, the Mopar/Borla 2.50" dual exhaust, part #P5007746, is marketed as the quieter, euro spec system.
