Question Engine ticking

Hi I have a '03 Dream Cruiser. Obviously 2.4l turbo. I noticed tonight that when the engine is running, idling, there is a rather loud ticking coming from the engine. I cant seem to pinpoint from where or why its happening? Any ideas? Is it a normal sound for these vehicles?? Something that needs to be addressed? Thanks

My 03 DC also has a tick. Not really loud but I notice it. My buddy is into SRT-4 neons and he says they have that same noise. He told me it's nothing to worry about. Granted he is not a mechanic. But I trust his word. I'm not worried. Mine at 100K it's gotta make some noise.

Nice wheels!

If the noise has gone un-noticed until now it may be fuel injector ,or lifter noise both depending on the volume are not uncommon. Best advise if you are not accustom to either noise is to have a Technicain lessen and give you an assiment.
The least you could do is make a simple home made audio tool to narrow down the part of the engine the sounds are coming from.

There is a TSB advising you to chamfer cam cap edges.

Engine "tapping" Noise.

That sounds like that is what it is. Is it a repair covered by Chrysler? Or is it out of my pocket? I dont dare try to do it myself.

If you read the TSB down towards the end, it explains how/if the work would be covered. Do you still have any kind of extended warranty?

It's all just unbolting parts and bolting them back on, except the chamfering.

That is pretty EZ, you could even do it with a piece of sandpaper, aluminum is really soft.

I asked you not to post any pictures of me working in the shop.

Did you cut a deal with Kael to get this?
