Question possible ignition switch problem

Hi, my name is Ruth and I have a 2004 PT Cruiser Turbo and suddenly my car stopped running after it started. Tried to start again and got a rurr-rurr 3 times after turning key on and off. Then nothing, not even a click. Tried getting it jumped and still nothing. Have new battery, had mechanic check starter, solenoid, etc. and he found a blown fuse, replaced it and still same problem that car would not turn over. I suggested to him to get a new ignition switch/pin but before he does he is worried that if the fuse blew it was something else and that would not fix it. Has anyone had same experience and can tell if fuse would blow due to bad ignition switch/pin. Don't want to get part only to find out other problem.

I need my car back asap so help would be appreciated ASAP

I don't know if this would help someone here diagnose your problem but can you tell us what fuse did the mechanic find that was blown?

...and, does the mechanic know there's two fuse boxes on your vehicle? One in the interior, one in the engine compartment.

He removed the fuse from the interior fuse box. Not sure which one yet, he is coming over this am.

Found out not interior fuse, but fuse in engine compartment. He is going to take my advice and replace the ignition actuator and see if that helps.
