Default Quick Q about front wheel bearings...

33mm "first design or 39mm "second design" on an '01 PT? Will either work? Any preferences here?

33mm for 01. usually they'll ask for the first 8 digits of your vin to make sure. i put the 33mm in my 02 and didnt make it a mile

You'd need to swap hubs and the little tin retainers to swap

Got it... didn't know if the different sizes were a design revision or a totally different hub design. I've got two cars where the manufacturer started specifying a slightly wider front wheel bearing or adding shims to cure a clunk. Sounds like the PT actually has totally different hubs. This is a very early one, so I suspect 33mm is the answer.

I need to admit, I'm a little excited about doing this job. I bought an OTC Hub Grappler over the summer, and this will be only the third opportunity I've had to use it.

What I am not looking forward to is potentially replacing the oil pan. That girdle looks gnarly.

The hubs are a little different;

so the retainer needs to stick out more- I suppose one could (only us Neon drivers) use '01 retainer and just leave gap between it and knuckle

Thanks! I imagine this car is stock top to bottom, but perhaps I'll wait til I pull the old ones out before ordering new ones, just to be safe.

You can tell if you have a trained eye by just pulling the rotor
