Default PT V-8 oh yea!

Been wanting to build a street rod out of a PT ever since they came out. Anyone seen a V-8 PT with a frame and 4 link?

unless you are planning to have a cage built for the car or have really deep pockets, you might consider locating the rear axle with leaf springs instead of a 4 link or ladder bars. IMO the 8.8 setup from a ranger would probably work well and would be CHEAP.

i don't know how much of the work you are planning to do yourself, but making frame connectors should be the last thing you should worry about. i'd be more worried about the steering rack running right across where the transmission is supposed to go.

i used to think about stuff like that. i thought switching the right and left knuckles would put the tierods in where they should be(pointing forward). after feeling how a mustang launches with a tubular front end and no bumpsteer kit(a stupid little kit that raises the tierods 1"), i think any re-engineering the steering geometry could be quite dangerous

Im a fabricator so I can make it happen. I would like to see other folks ideas

If you look at your PT between the seats and the door jams there is enough room to channel box tubing through the firewall right through the back, from there its easy to as a 5.0 clip and 4lik in the rear, and yes with a 8" out of a ranger with disk brakes (They bolt right on) from a exploder. Someone must have done this, someone.

Being a fabricator is one thing and having built Pro Street vehicles, kit cars,Race cars, running gear conversions etc., is totally different.

If you are capable start a project thread and let see it happen! I for one would love to see it done from scratch on a PT.

And for what it is worth IMO a shorten early 9 inch FORD would be my choice for available parts and gear ratio's as well easily handle 1400+WHP. I know it is what I used in a few of my "Freaks" on wheels. My S/G Camaro pushed 1275 through one without so much as a squeak!
