Wink Thermostat & Flushing??

getting ready to change my thermostat in my '06 GT, preventive maintenance, never changed one on a PT before...any pointers??-are the gaskets/seals re-useable? I've seen 2 types listed-one looks like a rubber "O" ring, the other looks like a conventional composition gasket.

AND.. as far as cooling system flushing at home, what is the best way on a PT? can I install a Flush n Fill "T" in the heater hose and flush with a garden hose like older vehicles?

And just what type of anti-freeze is in it from the factory? (its RED, thats all I know) --I use Peak FINAL CHARGE RED Extended-Life coolant in my Diesel pickup, CAN I use it in the PT as well?

Thanks A Bunch folks!

wow, no one has changed their Tstat yet? our '06 is now 6 years old and almost 50k miles.....I know the coolant is most likely extended lift stuff, but I'd really like to change the TStat...and figured why not flush the system as well while its down.........

Do you have the t-stat already? They usually come with a new gasket, if it didn't it's the o-ring style, the paper gasket is for the housing to block.

For coolant you want to use either the Mopar stuff or Zerex G05.

Thanks! I have the TStat coming, and a new cap as well-mine is just starting to leak a bit at the seal.

I'm assuming the TStat will come with a gasket....not 100% sure though...I got a STANT TStat and cap.

I'll check out the specs on the Mopar and Zerex coolant as well.

Any tricks to removing the housing and replacing the Tstat that might be helpful?

It's only a couple bolts that hold the housing together... But it's in a cramped space, pretty much like every thing else in the PT.
