Default Charging Issue?? Battery light on?

the battery light on my 04 PT came on the other day..Drove it home and it finally lost enought charge to stop shifting so I limped it home..

like a dummy I went ahead and replaced the Altinator and belts,,No helped it..Battery light still on and battery gos down same deal..

anything else to check to trouble shoot? it ..I knwo its not charging I checked it with a meter..

anything else that would stop it charging? I hear the voltage regulator is in the PC? that would be my next guess?? a new PC? ..

The PCM will indicate a problem code to identify the charging problem. You would need to get your PT scanned. This information will be in memory even if you do not get a engine check light.
Otherwise throwing parts trying to correct the problem is going to get costly guessing what the charging problem is?

How old is your battery? Maybe it just needs to be replaced.

^^^^^^ what he said ^^^^

Look for the oval or round small decal on the top or side of the battery that has a letter followed by a number. This would be the true shelf age of the battery.

i.e. K10 = 11th month which is November and the year 10 = 2010. November of 2010.

Places like AutoZone and Advance Auto will test the battery and charging system for you for free usually I think. Their machine can tell if the battery is holding a charge and if the alternator is properly charging...

Maybe you already did that and I missed it... if so forgive me.

Charging up a battery is not a conclusive way to checks its condition. But as you are showing negative voltage charge to the battery then re-read post #2.
Sorry!

Have you traced your cables down and cleaned the connections all the way back to there source. There is a big ground on the inner finder near the battery.
