2001 PT Cruiser not running - Need help!!!

Default 2001 PT Cruiser not running - Need help!!!

Hello, new to the forum, but it looks very helpful.
I have a 2001 Pt Cruiser with 142K on it.
4 Cyl, 2.4L.
Daughter was driving last Friday and it started running real rough...she pulled into a parking lot. It wanted to stall at idle. I was able to drive it home and it seemed to be ok at higher speeds. Real rough at idle.
No codes.
New Plugs, Platinums, new wires, new air filter.
Still ran rough.
New IAC.
Still ran rough, and seemed to be getting worse, therw a code 1297.
New MAP Sensor.
Still ran rough, and seemed to be getting worse, therw a code 1297, and 1391.
Tried backing it out of the driveway, barely ran pulled back in and it wouldnt start at all.
Replaced Cam sensor and Crankshaft sensor, still would not start or run.
Checked the following after that:
-Spark was good.
-Measured DC Pulse at the injector
-Compression was 150 on cyl 1 and 4.
-Pulled the plugs and they were soaked.
-put old plugs in and it seemed to want to fire until they were soaked as well.
Checking Fuel pressure this afternoon.
At my wits end.

Any suggestions?

Have you checked for any broken vacuum lines or wiring that may be chewed up or melted? I did some searching and those two things came up.

souklds liek its not getting enought spark????
The coils are pretty good but maybe you have a weak one????

or at the worst end the Co0mputor???

check the wire loom going to the crank sensor and the alernator. just last week on my 2001 the outer tie rod rubbed throught the loom and chewed up a wire going to the crank sensor. also rubbed part of the plastic insulation off the large wire going to the alternator. luckily there was no damage there.

when all was fixed, i tied up the loom away from the offending tie rod.

Update:

Checked fuel pressure : 59-61 psi
Replaced Coil pack.
Still will not start.

Checked all hoses for Vac leaks, checked all
Wiring harnesses for damage found no issues.

I am left with PCM /ECM or EGR valve.

Think I will just grab a new computer and
Slap that in. If it is like my Caravan I believe
It should start and run for a few seconds at least.
Anyone have any experience replacing the
Computer on one of these?

Fuel injectors? You might have two that are leaking?

As far as the computer, grab one from ebay, give them your vin and milage. Check the local bbb before ordering, as one of them is good and the other not so. It took me about 4 minutes to replace the unit.

The price on ebay is good, and if you return the core, it's a lifetime warranty, what ever that means?

Second Update

Found a replacement PCM and changed
It out.
Same problem, it will not start.
Wants to fire but will not actually start.
PCM is ok.
Wondering if timing belt is off.
My only reason for not thinking that was the
Problem was because of the 150 on the
Cylinder Compression, but now I am thinking
It may just not be firing at the correct position
In the cycle.
Any thoughts on that?
Still stumped.

What would a leaking injector do?
Do you think all four would go bad at once?

A leaking or stuck injector dumps fuel into the system. Two going bad at once is rare, but possible. Have you checked to make sure that the cams are turning? Pull the cam sensor and have someone crank it over to see if the cam moves.

It sounds like a timing problem to me, based on what you have posted. I would guess a broken timing belt, or the teeth on the belt sheared off at the crank.
