Default Tune up time.

I don't know the history of the car, but its at 90,000 and it is time for a third set of plugs by factory standards. Trans will be getting some love too, Mobil 1!

So the big question is: What kind of plugs and wires will get me the best economy?

Thanks for your replies and opinions.

IMO a Single electrode type gaped **@ .035 and MSD wires.

**The gap of a spark plug should really be done under testing by increasing or decreasing from .035 in .05 +/- increments to determine the optimum gap. The factory recommendation is a general application gap that will fundamentally work well just not optimum.
Taking others advise on what they choose does not work well because the driving environment as well the engine conditions are not the same and your results will be different.

Well, I am a diesel guy and always have been. I can work on gas, but I understand a diesel. I was looking for a specific brand that a majority like more than another, but the MSD wire set was already planned because of previous reading.

I am sure that your "Beast" is running a single electrode spark plug based on the info provided and if not it should be? And that brand you use because you have familiarity with it would be a good choice to go with for the PT.

If you view past thread and response everybody has an opinion and almost every brand and type plugs have been used. I have only read about 5 members that actually took the time to test and tune with spark plugs. Personally I use most brands that are on sale NGK, AC, Auto-light, Denso are my choices. I also make it a practice to change them more often then what is mentioned or advertised there longevity is.
