Default fuel gauge sending unit ground wire?

I have read a number of post that indicate that the ground for the sending unit is at the passenger side strut tower. I am having a problem with my fuel gauge and it certainly could be due to the ground. I have followed the wire from the strut tower and it just goes to the engine block. Is it possible that I knocked a wire off when I was replacing the timing belt? I definitely moved this wire several times. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the fuel sending unit?

one is the ground chart only, one is the pump/sender assembly. when i had my tank out i noticed there is only one connector. it is on the passenger side of the body by the gastank. crawl under there you'll see it.

you should add your location to your profile and year make model to your signature. im just assuming you have the same car as me.

Thanks for the info. As soon as I figure out how to add my signature etc. I will get it done.

On my 08 PT the fuel sender ground is located on the left hand side inner fender just a bit aft of the battery...it is one of about a dozen wires crimped to a single ring lug and attached to the inner fender with a sheet metal screw.

btw...hard to believe the factory would make such a crappy grounding installation.
