Default Fan Not Working

Hi All,

I have just bought a cruiser 2.0lt Auto - 2002 and noticed the fan wasnt working, ive checked around a few posted on here and changed the coolant sensor and reset code, engine management light goes off and temp light but fan still not working nor the temperature gauge.

if i disconnect the connector to the coolant sensor and start the car the fan runs but runs constantly so dont think its a fan issues?

all help welcome

Are you sure you got the right sensor - both location and part number? Unfortunately most folks on this forum are in the US and have 2.4l versions - the 2.0l may have different wiring. Does the gauge ever read anything?

Hi, yes i decided to run it again tonight with all wired up and temp gauge rises a little to about a quarter after 15 miles or so so i guessing thats why the fam doesnt start as it thinks its cool enough?

am i correct in thinking possible thermostat stuck?

thanks

Stuck thermostat definitely seems like a culprit. FWIW, it seems the PT has a pretty decent cooling system, and the fan isn't called into action except after some pretty hard drives followed by extended idling. Just letting it warm to the point of the fan coming on took a VERY long time when I tested it recently. I ended up caving it and hustling it around the block for a while before parking it and waiting some more.

Hi,

Changed thermostat and temperature gauge now working, i now have cylinder #1 misfiring and oil pressure light coming on when warmed up, check engine light flashing, checked oil and is between min and max,

would this be down to changing thermostat or just coinsidance.

Thanks
