Default Strange oil leak :/

So i went for my inspection sticker AGAIN today.

Failed after all my suspension work .....again.

Why? I have an oil leak that seems to be leaking onto my exhaust.

Heres the tricky part.

Its not the valve cover gasket. And its not the oil pan gasket.

It seems to be coming from mid engine, in the back.

From under the car it looks like its below the VCG. But above the exhaust manifold.

Which makes me think head gasket? but if i had a blown head gasket wouldnt i have blue smoke in the exhaust? or coolant in the oil or vise versa?

Where could it be coming from? even standing under the car on a lift you dont get a very good sight picture. and there is no visible oil from above.

any ideas would be great haha

Not sure how well this will apply but you may have a failing rear main seal. I spent two years trying to find the leak on my Chevy Cavalier. Finally saw exactly where it was when I had it running on a lift and stood where I could see it.

Just curious, and a little off topic here (and I apologize in advance). Why would an oil leak cause your car to fail an inspection? I'm assuming that it's a safety inspection.
