Default replacement shocks and struts?

What does everyone recommend? Wife's car has about 90k miles on it and the tires are wearing like it needs new ones. I called Napa and its about $130 fora set of 4. Any other suggestions?

That sounds about right, no need to go crazy expensive on a stock setup.

Didn't plan on going crazy, just wasn't sure if there were better OE replacement options out there

The only thing is that wont help your problem. Unless you have scalping on the tire. You should look at the control arm bushing, ball joints and tie rods. If all is well there then wheel alignment.

Its the very outside corner of the tires being worn more than the rest.

At 90k it may be time for a complete front end refresh.

Just got brand new Michelin Destinys for the PT Cruiser. I love these things. Im going to take the car to the shop tomorrow to work on it a bit. Any real way to tell if the tie rods, ball joints and control arms are worn out?

yep :-D

Tie rods are easy. lift the car, then rock the wheels in and out while holding each side. If they move. tie rods are worn.

Control arms are easy, look at the bushings, if they look cracked or torn, or the arm itself looks warped replace em.

Ball joints usually will make a popping noise while driving, also you can check them visually to see if they are torn :-)
