Default 04 PT starter issue

i have a 04, that the starter acts up (more like a drag) the first start of the day but after that, it turns over and starts fine, the battery is new, and the charging syst has been checked and is in good shape.

does this sound like a solenoid issue ? or ?? like i said this only happens during the first start of the day, there does not seem to be anything draining the battery because even if i let it sit for 4-5 days it does the same thing as if it were just overnight.

thanks.

It could be. bad news though bub, the starters on these are solid, cant just pop the solenoid out and fix it, have to replace the whole thing.

Also where are you located? anywhere cold? if the temp is under 40*F the engine will crank a lot slower during starting, this is because the engine is basically frozen , the oil is extremely thick *like molasses* and it just has a bit of trouble :-)

Now if it is doing this in the summer, replace the starter. :-)

that could very well be it, look into buying a heated oil dipstick, can get it at carquest, napa etc. basically keeps your oil warm in very cold weather, thus keeping the engine warmer, thus making starting easier. usually under $30 :-D
