Is the AC on or off. The reason I ask is it sounds like metal to metal contact which could be caused by the AC clutch. Now that I think about it, I am not sure if it would matter if the AC was on or not.

as long as you have her all unbuttoned, take off the serpentine belt. then you'll be down to 3 things if the noise goes away. the p/s, the a/c or the tensioner.

if the noise doesn't go away, then it might be the pulley on the alternator.

Could be either a noisy tensioner bearing or front alternator bearing going dry. Get a long piece of heater hose and use it as a stethoscope (with one end near an ear) to try and locate which component the noise is coming from with the other end. Don't get the hose or your hand caught in a belt however.

also. take a long wax candle. press it to the inside of the belt while the car is running, if the noise goes away, you need a new belt :-D
