Default Possible engine build on the horizon

Hey guys, its been a while. Ive been seriously thinkin bout building up the engine in the pt. hopin to get over 200whp out of it if i can.

Cams: either crane 22's or crower stage 2's
Crower valve springs
Oversized valves- not so sure on this one just yet
P&P dohc intake manifold
Atx 60mm throttle body
24lb injectors with a 58psi regulator
Walbro 255 fuel pump
Megasquirt pcm
Aftetmarket header
2 1/2" free flow exhaust
Super 44 series muffler
Underdrive crank pully
AEM adjustable cam gears
Decking the head (0.020-0.045)
Possible high comp pistons

Any thoughts?

Not sure about valves, either- Surprisingly one thing that wasn't discussed on Neon forum. It's clear you don't need them, tho!

I'd suggest a stock head, milled as you please. I assume you can remove Headgasket Shim in the new 2.4, make a post asking for old ones so you can do an autopsy to find out!

Do this after you decide on pistons, I'd like to see flattops but it'd end up in the high to very high category: E85 only

I'd use stock injectors and regulator with MS- unless you E85 in your area:

Alternative Fuels Data Center: Ethanol Fueling Station Locations

You won't need a different fuel pump in any case! Stock is more than enough for NA.

You need to get someone to bend a Long Tube Header for the PT body-

My suggestion, though, is to do all the 'bolt on's first, and see where you're at.

Thats what i was thinkin. Better to start off cheap and then work my way up. Now as far as a throttle body, whats tue biggest i can go without being too big? And im having a hard time finding megasquirt pcm for an n/a car. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure you can go too big, BUT you'll have problems unless you make the throttle bellcrank progressive-
IOW, just touching throttle will allow LOTS more flow than on a tiny TB the same angle.
One Neon guy put an 80mm on his 2.0!!!

All MS do the same thing whether Turbo or NA- Boards are exactly same except V3.57 mass production and the old V2.2 (not sure there's code for NGC)
A V3 MSI will work fine- You'll need Neon/420A code for 2.0/2.4 '02 and older, or NGC code for '03 & Up

Here's a how-to build index- $200 for the kit

Minnesota's Community of Neons! • View topic - MS Build Index

For MSII the processor is what's different, and one jumper
MSIII, same except you need a taller case.

I would do a chases dyno to see exactly were your at. The throttle body size not that big of deal. The intake is like a restrictor in NASCAR. If you don't get more flow there the TB won't help much.

You mean a 2.0 DOHC manifold?
