Default Instrument Cluster Dead & No Start

Hi,

I have a PT Cruiser 2004 Diesel model.

The instrument cluster has no lights on it and no activity at all, I have checked all the pins on the connector and the correct ones are getting all the correct voltages and the grounds look good.

The starter relay does not even try to fire, however there is power going to the common pin on the relay.

I tried hooking up a bit of wire in place of the relay and it trys to start the starter motor.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Is it likely to be a wiring issue or perhaps dead Powertrain Module?

Thanks

Do you have the shop manual?
The diesel wiring schematics can be found here:

Reading your various posts, I am stumped. If the PDC starter relay is not faulty, the powertrain module is likely the problem. The starter relay is grounded through the ECU when the computer gets "go" signals from all sensors. One of those sensor circuits can be bad (like signals from clutch or neutral switches).
