Default PT Running then completely dead

Hi all!

Back again with more issues. We started the car with the remote starter. It cranked right up and ran for about 10 minutes. When we went to step on the brake and start it with the key, everything was completely dead. Then I got out of the car and the dome light came on...I tried to start it, and everything went black again. We had a new battery put in about three weeks ago. Could it be a short or something? I never saw anything like this.

Thanks!
Joanie

It's ether a bad alt or bad connections on the cables. Check all the connections not just at the battery.

Re-read your post again, and it sounds to be a slipping alternator belt causing it not to turn at the proper speed, hence why is not charging properly.

Thank you so much for your response. Okay, so I was looking around because we tried jumping it and all is does is sounds like it's turning over, but won't start. I saw red and white wires, and the red one is disconnected from somewhere. I tried following the white wire, but the whole compartment is just too small. Any idea what that could be, and could those wires possibly be from fog lights my guy tried installing a few years ago?

Thanks again!
Joanie

I'm not sure if this picture will work, but this is the wire that I found pulled out of something. We did connect the battery charger right to the battery instead of the positive post, and this red wire could've been the problem, but the only thing is, what caused it not to start in the first place. Hmmm....not sure what this is all about.

That is not original to the car.

Have you considered that possibly there's a problem with the remote start system? Have you had it checked? Are you sure it was actually running for those ten minutes?
