Default Odd radiator pics pics in the service manual

I downloaded the service manual from the "How To" sticky thread and went to the section on replacing the radiator. The photos there show a different configuration for the filler and thermostat housing.

It shows the cap at the front and center of the top of the radiator and the thermostat housing on the right side, way from the filler tube.

I wonder if this is an '01. Mine is an '02 and is configured like the one in Kawa's thread on removing the radiator. The manual states that there's no need to open the A/C lines, or to remove the condenser, which is what I was hoping for.

Anyway, I'm waiting for parts and I have to replace my radiator in my '02 Limited N/A, 5 speed. I'm going to follow the pics in the thread linked below:

How to; Remove Radiator

Any further tips would be appreciated. Thanks.

cant you also drop the radiator out of the bottom ,removing the bolt on lower support, leaving all the intake , etc alone ?

have to look at mine again but seems there was clearance.

Might still help to remove the front top cross piece between fenders for some extra flexibility

Yeah, the pics in that thread show how much room you have to work once the grill and radiator support member are out. Unbolting the condenser allows the radiator to slide out from the top.

I got my new radiator and fan today, so I'll be changing it out in the morning, thanks to the info on this forum.

Great site. I'm loving it.

Not sure what manual you downloaded (I haven't seen it myself), but the factory manual we have here at the dealership matches the pictures in the thread you referenced for a 2002.

there is absolutely NO reason to remove the intake to get the radiator out.

see my thread here:
