i'm gonna go with the radiator fan. they tend to go bad in our cars. i would also look for a vacuum leak.

Well pt's seem to run kinda funny when vaccum is either low or high. I know that if you pump your brakes when youre stopped at a light, you can raise the rpm. I would check your break system and make sure your master cylinder and brake booster arent bad. Either that, or there is a vaccum leak somewhere.

Biggest vacuum leak issue that the PT has is the vapor canister.

After time it gets clogged, or springs a leak, thus not letting fuel vapors return to the gas tank.

This can cause erratic idle at a stop.

Costs like $75 and is pretty easy to replace, its located above the tranny, behind the battery box. Big black box :-D

Oh its by the firewall. Drivers side hidden way down in there. its not a small solenoid though. its a BIG BLACK BOX. 1/2 the size of your battery heavy too, its filled with charcoal.

Chrysler PT Cruiser Mopar EGR Vacuum Solenoid W0133-1875866 at Auto Parts Network

should look like this on the 01-02 model, 03 is 4x bigger so the one on your firewall is probably it.

Sorry for the confusion.

One on the gas tank should look like this

http://compare.ebay.com/like/2305979...Types&var=sbar

Check both of them for cracks or leaks, and the hoses connected to them
