It is separate but I would think unhooking the battery would reset it.

TCM and a ECM - Are they separate?
How to reset TCM? Error code P0700

Default Re: PCM Question

Disconnecting the power will not reset the ECU/TCM, the information is in RAM and pending file so it will simply re-activate through cycling. It must be properly cleared and then if the anomaly was not corrected will return after the preset ECU/TCM cycling events.
