Default 2003 oil sensor problem code 522

We have a 2003 mint PT cruiser with 35000 miles. I'm getting a 522 error code which is low input at sensor, we have replaced the sensor twice and the oil light comes on one out of 10 times that we drive it. So what is next, check the pressure with a pressure gauge. I just can't imagine it being a bad oil pump but hell what do I know. any advice is welcome.

If dipstick level is ok, then check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. You want to know the pressure at: cold idle; cold 3000rpm; hot idle; hot 3000rpm. Hot means you cannot hold your hand on the oil pan.

Are you replacing the sensor with a Genuine MOPAR part? Our PT's don't like sensors from the auto parts store.
