Default Coolant leak question

Hi Experts/PTsters,
I drive a 2006 Pt Cruiser Touring edition and I had a question regarding coolant circulation in my PT. Does the coolant start to circulate as soon as the car is started or it starts to circulate after the car is stopped? The reason for the question being, my car is leaking coolant and I can see it leak on the ground only after I shut the car down after driving (even after little bit of driving).
Thanks

The coolant always circulates in the engine and heater core. It only circulates thru the radiator when the coolant at the thermostat reaches say 195 degrees.

After the engine is shut off, the heat from the engine continues to increase the coolant temp for a while.

Question Re: Coolant leak question

Check the overflow line for loose and the plastic filler neck and cap for signs of white looking residue. A sign of a leak.

I cannot see any leak or residue from above. However if I am facing the car and kneel down facing the radiator I do see it collecting where the small tube attaches to the radiator at the bottom and then it seeps from there. This only happens after I turn off the engine.

On a different note do you recommend having brake flush service at 92000 miles? It was recommended by a car repair shop. Just wanted to find out it is necessary maintenance service or just an extra service recommended by car repair shops.
thanks

you'll really need to get a flashlight and poke around. if you see where it leaks or white streaks where it's drying, take a picture for us.

for your other problem, do you know where the brake fluid goes? i wouldn't bother changing it unless it was black

Get out owners manual or search here and download one.
It will tell you what needs to be done and when for maintenance

Get a flashlight and see if you can find a leak at any point above that lower hose, if you cant its either the hose itself has dried out and cracked at the intake to the radiator, if so drain the radiator, disconnect the hose and replace it. Use hose clamps to get it on real tight.

If its not cracked then the discharge plug that is used to drain the coolant is leaking.

you can replace the drain plug for like $5. Odds are the threads are worn and are just letting coolant out

Hope this helps.
