Default Grinding noise coming from my 2005 PT Cruiser

I just had my timing belt and water pump pulley replaced and now there is a grinding sound (that sounds like it is coming form under the passenger side). It only makes the sound when when taking off from a stop. Any help on what this could be will be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Make them check it out so you know if they made a mistake of some kind.

I don't want to take it back to the tires plus that fixed it. They keep trying to nickel and dime the hell out me.

Question Re: Grinding noise coming from my 2005 PT Cruiser

I don't even remember typing this, must have been strung out on the happy pills

I understand trying to save a buck, but tires plus isn't a place I would have something as expensive and crucial as a timing belt done there.

I would trust them to air up my tires though

Good luck

leave your money at home and go make them tell you why it is making a noise now that it was never making before. there is no need to be nice to people that nickle and dime you. don't give them more money. go tell them you are not satisfied with the repair and make them find or fix it.

maybe something is loose, maybe they screwed something up when they raised the motor up to get the belt on. maybe they left the exhaust connected and tweaked it and you hear a heat shield rattling now. when you change the timing belt you need to jack it up to a pretty scary angle to get the parts in there. its easy to break stuff

Tires plus prolly farmed it out.

A chain's policy is to estimate EVERYTHING on comebacks. You need to have someone look to see if they attached to 'torque struts'. Most likely they just left one of those and other stuff off-
They kinda look like aluminum dog bones with black rubber in each end-
Top one you can see easily, just open hood- bottom is behind a cover, you might be able to see it if you crawl under oil pan and look behind

There is a motor mount bolted to the inside of passenger side frame rail. Behind the plug indicated by the top arrow is the engine mount bolt that goes through the center of that mount and is what actually holds the engine up - the top and bottom struts mostly just keep the engine from rotating under power. If this bolt is removed and not replaced, or is broken, the engine drops down and there is a grinding noise on the passenger side. Mine broke while driving and was a PITA to get the broken threaded stub out of the engine bracket.

Pretty much 2 hours with a combination of reversed drill bits and several different styles of "easy outs". Well, 3 hours if ya count the time outs in the corner for swearing and throwing tools
