It is a two speed fan. It is really hard to hear or see it running on low but when the AC is on it will run on high and you can definitely hear it. Are you having an overheating issue?

Our fans are a major weakness, the fan should always be on when the AC is on but should also kick up to high when your at a light or something. You can always here it kick on to high speed. When it doesn't kick to high speed the bushing in the fan may be shot. You can get fans on ebay cheap or at a place like advanced auto. No reason to buy the Chrysler one since they suck anyway. We also have instructions to change it in this very sub forum in the stickies.

The link Dino posted is on removing the radiator which is a lot of work you don't need to do. Here is the link to replacing the fan. It is for a 01-05 but it basically the same in the 06. I used them to replace the fan in my daughters 06.

The temp gauge on all the PT's I have seen run just below the midway point.

I'm with Ray. 5-10 minutes to reach half-way and then stay there. The fan is turned off and on independently by either the AC as needed or the coolant temp as needed.

i am not sure why but my fan stays on sometimes after I turn the car off... I tried changing the battery, which worked last time. Is there some relay or switch or basically a simple fix? I can't afford any major repair issues right now.

You need to tell us what car your driving. There's a difference in electrics between the 01-05 and 06+ cruisers. Your problem might be as simple as a stuck relay (high or low depending on the fan speed that's running) or as bad as the computer malfunctioning but that could be easy also if it only needs a reset.

First thing to try is disconnect the negative battery cable for 10 minutes to see if that helps.

it's an 07 Cruiser.
I have tried the disconnect thing before.
It does shut of the fan, but it still does this intermittently. I have found if the car runs for 15-20 minutes it seems ok, but the short 5 minute trips are when it seems to stay on. It isn't over heating or even coming close to that. runs like normal, temp is normal, it's just the fan staying on.

The newer 2nd generation cruisers (2006+) have a whole different electrical system called the CAN-BUS and that's a whole new kettle of fish when trying to diagnose a problem. The older cruisers, in the fuse box, there were high and low relays you could check ...not in the new ones. I can't help you more than I've already said. Maybe someone else that's more familiar with the new electrical system will pop in and give you more advice.

Last question; Did you wait around for awhile to see if it would ever shut off? My Corvette fan stays on after I shut the engine down until the coolant reaches a particular temperature set by the computer. Might take a minute or 10 but it does shut off eventually.
