Default MIL Light

Help. This is the second time this happens. This morning when I turned on my car the MIL started flashing. Not knowing what to do I turned off the car to take a look at the manual. Anyway, when I turned the car back on all lights turned on as they normally do when you turn on the car. The MIL never turned back on or did it come on while I was driving. Should I still get it checked out? Could something be faulty?

Reset the computer. Take the negative battery cover off for about 5 minutes. Step on the brake pedal to get rid of any residual static. Put it all back together and run the car, or drive it for a few minutes while the computer re-learns the settings. See if that clears things up.

A bit further into this for the newbie :-D

"the key dance".

Take the key, stick it in the ignition.

Turn it from "off"

To "acc"

then back to "off" 3 times quickly.

Then look at the odometer. IF there is and engine trouble code it will show up there :-)

Report back to us gurus what it says for further instruction :-D

I will try to do that. The only "testing" I've done is what the manual says to do by turning the key and to acc and checking to see if the light stays lit or starts flashing.....and it stays lit which is supposed to mean everything is okay. But I will try what you've stated and let you guys know. THANK YOU!!!

did it just say "done" if not you need to keep trying. It will always register something. If it registered nothing they key dance wasnt done right :-D
