Default 2005 Cruiser possible timing belt problem

Hi all,

My brother has a Cruiser 2005 2.4L Limited Edition, it has 102.800k miles on it and it is just due for an oil change, as the sticker say 102.800k.
He was driving it today and everything was just fine, but when he got home and was parking the car, he said the engine just shut off. The lights were working fine, as well as the radio and other electric components.
He tried to turn the car on again and it makes a sound like it is trying to turn on but it just wont.

I had a similar problem with a Kia not so long ago so and it was the timing belt that broke and caused damage to the engine's block head. I think the same may have happened with my brother's car.

Now I don't know what to do. He was parking the car so he was going very slow into the parking spot when the car shut down. If it is the timing belt, could there be serious damage to the engine?

Thank you for the help!

Generally no, they are a non Interfernce setup.

Have it towed to a place you trust to have it checked out

I know it is hard to know what's going on only by reading what i wrote but, do you think it is a problem with the belt? I heard they are pretty hard/expensive to replace..
